This high ankle version of the classic shoes were inspired by the album artwork of the 1993 acclaimed album Midnight Marauders by A Tribe Called Quest. They feature a black upper constructed primarily from tumbled leather, These designs are characterized by the colors of black, red and green in addition to the tribal pattern found on the toe box and mid-section in this case. They have officially been labeled the Air Jordan 1 (I) Retro High Strap "Sole to Sole" , but many are nicknaming them the Tribe Called Quest Air Jordan 1 (I) or Midnight Marauders Air Jordan 1 (I).
